This project was created for a design competition "Die Flachfrau zum Flachmann": A realization competition organized by the Klein- und Obstbrennereiverein (KuOBV) in search of a design for the missing counterpart to the traditional flask. The brief was to design a bottle for the association's 111th anniversary that would serve as the female counterpart to the classic hip flask — the "Flachfrau." A few criteria were set: The bottle had to hold 200ml of liquid and could either be worn visibly on the body or disappear discreetly under clothing. The material was left open. I designed a bottle called Kolibri (Hummingbird), which was awarded 3rd place.
An unconventional form that stands in clear contrast to the classic hip flask. Kolibri is a bottle that is present, that doesn't hide, and that resists typical categorization. It is visible, self-assured, and versatile — able to stand on its own or be worn on the body. Its distinctive shape means it can never simply be set down; It stays in motion, almost as if hovering, like a hummingbird in flight. The design language is minimalist, delicate and refined, yet at the same time strong and enduring – a compelling contrast that doesn't need to be loud to be seen.
